My name is Roman and I am having the time of my life here in Camp TY. I have learned so many things about being Jewish and Jewish values. Also, because I am in the Havurah program, I get to learn with other campers that share the same Russian culture and heritage as me. It’s very comforting to know that I am not the only one out there that has interesting superstitions and traditions. Today we are getting ready for Shabbat, and I must admit that it is really nice to get really dressed up and fancy. This is not an experience that I have at home.

At this camp I am not only learning about Judaism, but I am also learning valuable life skills such as how to cook my own food and building a fire with the scouts. Yesterday was one of the most fun days at camp this week. We had Maccabia, which is a color war between four teams. It’s a camp wide event where we all compete in different activities. This week we had tons of fun and I hope to have even more fun towards the rest of camp. I can’t wait for trip week!!!
